What’s been happening:

The time spent at State College was most memorable. It is hard to believe 58 years have passed since my graduation. So much has happened in that time. While raising my four wonderful children, I managed to get my Master's degree from one of the first "colleges without walls." That enabled me to accept the job of Chief of the Family Support Division within the Department of the Army at Fort Meade, Maryland. I was not only the first civilian to be in that position, but also the first woman as well. Family Support did exactly what the title expresses. I was to see that all military families at the Fort received my Office's full support through Army Community Service, Child Development Service, Army Emergency Relief-to name just a few. It was a taxing but most rewarding position, which allowed me to help bring about many changes in the way military families were being helped. When my husband became ill I decided I needed to retire to be sure he was given all the care he needed. When he passed away almost 18 years ago, I found myself caring for other military personnel. For the past fourteen years I have been with a medically retired Rear Admiral who has the debilitating disease, Multiple Sclerosis. None of us know what the future holds for us but in the meantime, we must enjoy the ride!
